We also had external coaches come in and deliver after school activities including; street dance, Cheerleading, Viper training and kick boxing. The week was fun and enjoyable. Well done to all who took part!

Cross Fit
Dan run a CrossFit club originally set up to improve the 1st XV’s fitness and strength. CrossFit is a strength and conditioning system built on constantly varied, if not randomized, functional movements executed at high intensity that includes gymnastics, powerlifting and metabolic conditioning. A usual session would see the attendees be put through a circuit session designed to specifically test different areas of fitness. Big improvements were recored from all of the regulars to the sessions both in strength and fitness. Ross Guy, Jordan Gelder, Josh Skepper, Sam Simpson, Alasdair Harris and Jouni Ikola Gaiser all made a massive contribution to the class not only making huge improvements and smashing previous PB’s but also in helping and encouraging new pupils who attended.

Squash Club
Dan’s squash club ran on Wednesdays after school with lots of interest from all years especially year 7’s. The squash club was set up for pupils to find a sport that isn’t focused on much at Beaufort that they could hopefully carry on and play in the future. Alex Babbage, Max Williams and Callum Mashford-Smith showed great improvement throughout the year all now having a deep interest in the sport.

Table Tennis
Several year 7/8 students took part in Coaching sessions run by Dave. He was an excellent coach and introduced table tennis to many Year 7 students. Dave was able to develop awareness of the game and also improve the students’ skills.

Young Ambassadors
Hannah Crisp, Stacey Mitchell, Alex Lane and Brad Poole were selected as the Beaufort Sports Ambassadors this year. They have acted as positive role models and have worked hard to promote sport within the school. They have also been invited to attend an interview for the appointment of Gloucester Sports Ambassador on the 15th July 2010. We would like to wish them good luck!

Leadership

We have run a very successful leadership programme at the school this year. This has led to:

  • 21 students completing their Level 1 Sports Leaders Award
  • 7 completed their Level 2 Sports Leaders
  • Dan Crisp is also the first Beaufort student to complete the Level 3 Sports Leaders Award receiving 30 UCAS points.
  • Dan Crisp and Paul Lane have completed their ECB Young Leaders Award
  • 8 year 10/11 girls competed the Netball Leaders Award

Well Done to all!

Key Stage 1 Multi skills Festival
Throughout the year the JSL and CSL students have worked very hard to prepare for the multi skills festival which they delivered for 200 year 1 students. The day involved the Beaufort leaders delivering a variety of sports activities to the younger children, with the aim to improve many of their skills. The day was enjoyed by all and proved to be a very successful leadership experience for the JSL and CSL students.
