Welcome Message from the Headteacher

Mr J M Bride, HeadteacherBeaufort Community School is a very successful, mixed comprehensive school, catering for students of all abilities and backgrounds up to the age of eighteen. Our specialist status as a Technology College has given students access to the latest hi-tech facilities for 21st century learning across the curriculum. More recently we gained the prestigious Artsmark Gold Award and Sportsmark Award in recognition of the outstanding activity taking place in these areas. We also have Investors in People status, valuing the staff in the school as the most important resource the students have.

All of our students are encouraged to aim for excellence and to fulfil their individual potential - academically, socially and personally. We want them to become successful, confident and caring adults who will be able to play an active part in society where adaptability, enterprise and consideration for others are increasingly important. Our strong commitment to equality of opportunity and equality of esteem is intended to ensure that all students, regardless of ability, aptitude or background, can fulfil their potential.

We expect our students to have high aspirations; their academic progress and examination success are ensured by top quality teaching, first rate facilities and challenging targets. Every one is valued as an individual, with a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities enabling talent and creativity to be identified and nurtured. Traditional values of self-discipline, politeness, responsibility and sensitivity to the needs of others underpin the school ethos; we take great pride in the warm personal relationships which exist and the involvement of all students in some form of community or charitable service.

Increasing demand for places at the school has led to a substantial building programme, resulting in new or refurbished facilities for Humanities, Performing Arts, Science, Languages, ICT and Sport. We have recently completed the construction of a new Post 16 Centre for our increasingly popular Sixth Form. Extensive links are enjoyed with partner schools as well as local community and business organisations, particularly through membership of The South Gloucester Learning Trust. We particularly value the tremendous support of parents, recognising their key role in the learning process.

I am sure your sons and daughters will enjoy being part of Beaufort Community School. They will be given every opportunity to gain academic success and personal fulfilment and to develop their talents and social skills in a friendly, supportive environment.
