Internet Access for Students

At Beaufort Community School we encourage students and staff to use information and communication technologies (ICT) to support effective teaching learning. All students study ICT, use ICT in a wide range of subjects and have the opportunity to use computers out of lessons. As a school we are clearly aware of the risks posed by the use of ICT and particularly the internet and have clear procedures and systems to ensure the safety of students and staff. We do this through the following strategies –

  • Teaching and discussing with students how to use the internet safely and the potential risks that they may face.
  • Filtering inappropriate sites so students cannot gain access.
  • Having the ability to monitor sites visited by students.
  • Providing ICT courses and internet safety courses for parents.
  • Following a clear Acceptable Use Policy that all staff and students need to agree to.

While we are very keen that students use ICT and the internet to support their learning and that they are encouraged to be responsible users we also understand you may wish your child not to have access to the internet. If this is the case could you please contact the school office on 01452 301381 or by e-mail at office@ beaufort.gloucs.sch.uk.
