Content:
A level Product Design is a natural step on from GCSE ResistantMaterials, GCSE Graphics or GCSE Manufacturing. In this course you will have the opportunity to examine and evaluate a range of different products and look at their impact on our life. You will be encouraged to be creative and develop exciting design ideas that you can then make in wood, metal, plastics or graphic materials. Producing quality products is very important and you will be taught the skills to do this. As a student on this course you will be able to work independently in all areas of Design and Technology and use a wide range of equipment including Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture techniques.
Assessment:
AS Unit 1
Exam 50%
Materials, Components and Application
Unit 2
50% approximately 50 hours
Coursework project
A2 Unit 3
Exam 50%
Design and Manufacture
Unit 4
50% approximately 60 hour coursework project
This course is for you if you are interested in:
• Developing your design skills.
• Using graphic media,
• Working in a workshop with woods, metals and plastics
• Using ICT for modelling and developing e portfolios
