Welcome to the English Department |
"Viewed freely, the English language is the accretion and growth of every dialect, race and range of time, and is both the free and compacted composition of all" - Walt Whitman
The English Department at Beaufort Community School is a dynamic and diverse department comprising of subject specialist teachers, teaching English Language, English Literature and Media Studies across the three Key Stages.
We aim to provide students with an opportunity to learn from dedicated teaching staff, who aim to inspire and motivate students in their English Studies.
The department is housed in the newest part of the school building; the ‘H’ block, situated at the back of the school. A building providing a range of well equipped teaching rooms and up to date computer facilities.
At present all Key Stage 3 pupils (Year 7 – 9) have eight, fifty minute lessons across their fortnightly timetable, incorporating the study and use of ICT within their English lessons. At Key Stage 4, lessons are again fifty minutes long; Year 10 have seven lessons a fortnight and Year 11 have eight. At Key stage 5 pupils have ten fifty minute lessons a fortnight, which are usually double lesson sessions.
