Students Curriculum English Department Facilities
Department Facilities

The English department is housed in the newest part of the school building; the ‘H’ block, situated at the back of the school and first opened for teaching after Easter in 2007. The building provides a range of well equipped teaching rooms and up to date computer facilities.

Each classroom comprises of seating and desks for up to thirty-two pupils.  In every classroom there is an interactive touch screen whiteboard, with speaker system and regular monitor attached.  As a department we also have access to thirty-two laptops, for use with whole classes in every Key Stage. All pupils have access to a fully stocked library, which also has its own computer suite, laminating and photocopying facilities. Year 7 and 8 have the opportunity to understand how to maximise their use of our Learning Centre, as well as widen and develop their reading skills, within their timetabled library lessons.

Media Studies (as a department, within the English Department) also means pupils have access to a specialised bank of laptops, with software appropriate for use in practical production work. Digital cameras and camcorders are also available and these can be taken home throughout Key Stages 4 and 5 in order to capture the required footage for examined coursework.
