What are the economic forces that drive the world economy?
How are they changing?
What decisions are being made about the use and management of resources, and who makes these decisions?
An appreciation of current events and world problems, such as the effects of natural hazards, global warming, migration and the plight of refugees.
There are 2 units in year 12:
Unit 1: Global Challenges
World At Risk: global natural hazards and climate change.
Going Global: globalisation, connections between nations, migration, megacities, technologies and population change.
Unit 2: Geographical Investigations
Crowded Coasts: this will reveal how development is testing these beautiful and valued environments.
Rebranding Places: reinventing places to improve their image and regenerate
Where does geography take me?
Nationally Geography has one of the best employment records. Employers welcome people with enquiring minds, and an understanding of the world. Geography is therefore very useful in many careers such as anagement, leisure, administration, travel, business, tourism, environmental management, planning etc etc etc
There are also field trip opportunities to Swanage in Dorset, the Natural History museum and an extended trip to Iceland.
