ICT Curriculum


Overview @ Key Stage 3

Students follow the National Curriculum for ICT through discrete ICT lessons. They will also use a wide range of applications and hardware across the curriculum.

Students in Year 9 start Unit 1 ‘ICT skills for business’ which forms part of the OCR Level 2 National First Award in ICT. This continues into Year 10 Core ICT along with ICT functional skills.

Overview @ Keystage 4

  • Core ICT
    In Year 10 all students continue to receive 1 lesson of Core ICT per week
  • Optional ICT

If students choose ICT as part of their options they have the opportunity to complete the DIDA suite of qualifications.  This enables students to gain up to the equivalent of 2 GCSEs. These units give students the skills to manage project based ICT within specific areas.

Overview @ Keystage 5

  • BTEC ICT Practitioners Level 2 
    This course has been designed to equip students with the underpinning understanding, skills and knowledge needed as a preparation for either employment or moving onto further studies such as A Levels. 
  • AS & A2 Level in Applied ICT
    This course is designed to give students the understanding of how businesses use and operate ICT within their organisations. Within this course students will gain understanding of Interactive Multimedia Products and Developing and Creating websites.
