Year 7
Pupils in year 7 are set allowing pupils to progress at a pace more suited to their mathematical ability.
The selection of these sets is based on the following criteria;
- The pupil’s National curriculum KS2 result.
- The APP records.
Pupils will follow the National Framework in Mathematics.
Year 8
In Year 8 pupils are set in half year groups based on their mathematical ability as assessed in year 7 and the results of national progress tests sat at the end of year 7.
Pupils will follow the National Framework in Mathematics.
Year 9
In year 9 pupils are again set in half year groups based on their mathematical ability as assessed in year 8 and the results of the progress tests at the end of year 8. Staffing is increased in year 9 to allow five sets in on half and four sets in the other half.
Pupils will follow the National Framework in Mathematics.
Key Stage 4 Courses
Year 10 and 11
- Edexcel 3810 Linear at both Foundation and Higher levels with no coursework
There are alternative courses for those pupils who sit there GCSE at the end of year 10.
- AQA Free standing maths qualification FSMQ at foundation level
- Adult numeracy qualification as part of ALAN
Key Stage 5
AS
In year 12 AS modules Core 1, Core 2 and Statistics are offered. Students sit Core 1 Module in January and the further two modules Core 2 and Statistics in June.

In year 13 A2 modules Core 3, Core 4 and Decision 1 are offered. Students sit Core 3 and Decision 1 in January and then Core 4 in June.

GCSE re-sit is offered to those students who achieved a grade D in Year 11.
