Year 7 students study French for 6 periods per fortnight with the focus on communication of topics within their personal experience such as themselves, their family and friends, school, hobbies, holidyas and where they live.
In Year 8 students prepare for the FCSE examination where other topics such as media, healthy living, food and drink and celebrations can be studied in the target language.
Year 9 students all study for a short course GCSE in either French or Spanish with the emphasis on the skill areas of writing and reading. This should enthuse them enough to opt for a modern foreign language at key stage 4 where all students study for the full GCSE course during years 10 and 11, with reading, listening, speaking and writing tested over 4 modules of study.
A level is available for those wishing to continue their studies further.
