BTEC Level 2

Here at Beaufort Community School we currently offer BTEC Level 2 at both Extended Certificate and Diploma standard in Year 10 and 11.  The extended certificate is equivalent to two GCSE's at A-C grade.  The diploma is equivalent to four GCSE's.

 

The BTEC Firsts in Sport have been designed to build on learning from Key Stage 3, for those who may wish to explore a vocational route throughout Key Stage 4.  Furthermore, they have been developed in the sport and active leisure sector to: provide education and training for sport, leisure and recreation employees.  It also gives learners the oppitunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

 

The extended is made up of four units, those being; Unit 1, Fitness Testing and Training; Unit 2, Practical Sport; Unit 4, Anatomy and Physiology for Sport and Unit 5, Injury in Sport.  In addition to the above and in order to complete the diploma course the following units also have to be completed; Unit 7, Planning and Leading Sports Activities; Unit 10, Nutrition for Sports Performance; Unit 11, Development of Personal Fitness; Unit 18, Effects of Exercise on the Body Systems.

 

Students work is graded using the following criteria: Fail, Pass, Merit and Distinction.  As a result each completed unit will be graded and ultimately an overall grade will be given for the course.
